Some exciting changes have taken place at Holly Kai. We have moved the driving range and practice putting green downstairs to where the old #1 Ocean fairway (driving range) and #9 Ocean green (practice putting green) used to be.
But even more exciting, is the fact that you can now practice on both the driving range and the practice putting green for only 25L for 30 minutes. Come, hang out at the clubhouse, hit a bucket of balls, putt around with your friends, have a drink in the bar or dance in the ball room.

Being a RL golfer I got very excited finding out about the golf in SL. It was so much fun and easy the very first time I tried to play. I’m looking foward to getting my hubby to play with me here in SL too.
The first thing i tried out at Holly Kai was the driving range. The setup was great and it’s nice to pay a flat rental fee for time on the practice range and putting green. I can’t wait to play my first round.

Looks good! And I met a couple of nice people when looking around. Now I have to dig a few hours out of my hectic 2L schedule to play . . .
I endorse Mielie/Leroux’s comment that you might consider a practice hole to demonstrate how easy/hard it is.
Also – I’ve been looking all over for golf clothes for men, and I can’t find any check pants. Do you know where I could find some – or maybe you shoud consider expanding the pro shop’s rang, at least to include a club polo – and v-neck sweater for those early morning starts. Maybe you might consider giving one away with a membership as an inducement.

Hmmm. Our feeling is that the new low priced driving range and putting green should feel that need. And if you want to test the course so to speak, 150L isn’t a lot of money (less than 50 cents US) to have a half hour on the course.
But we hear you and will mull over your suggestion.

I love playing golf at Holly Kai, and am looking forward to seeing the new work and design that you are working on. When will it be up and running again?

Some time before Bush pulls us out of Iraq. To be more specific, I would like to have the January monthly tournament (1-27-07) on the redesigned Ocean Course. Do note however the sizable weasel wording on the prior sentence.

I had my first 30 minute practice session yesterday, and I’m fairly certain I’m hooked!
I found striking the ball on the practice range fairly straightforward, but I struggled with judging the distance on my putts. I guess, just like real golf, practice will make perfect.
I’m excited to get on the course and play a round, assuming I can find a 3 hour block to dedicate to playing at least 9 holes.
Last comment – I found all the notecards in the proshop to be spot on and very informative. Thanks for making the game of flog easy to learn.

Thwacked a few balls on the driving range with Flog! yesterday and was a fully paid up member wandering out on to the open 9 within the hour.
Tonight I arrived at the clubhouse, foudn two of the friendliest playing comapnions you could care to bump into while I was still getting my spats on, and had my very first official witnessed round.
Hit four 3s on the first four holes and finished with a debut 34 which had me chortling into my cigar back in the clubhouse – what a fantastic couple of hours! I’m almost glad I bogied the short 9th – it makes me want to come back and better my score as soon as possible.
Can’t wait to see the new courses and sims, and I haven’t played the ocean 9 yet! Good stuff.
Any European novices fancy knocking the ball around, send me an IM and we can arrange a time.

I just found your course last night and I have to say, thanks. I like the course and I like the fact that it did not cost me an arm and a leg to play. Keep up the good work.

Getting Ready to Drive « MechanizedLife
[...] A while ago (5 or six months ago?) I had the urge to play a round of golf in Second Life. This could be because the weather is just cold enough to make it difficult in Real Life, it could be because I have had busy weekends, or any number of other reasons. So yesterday I typed ‘Golf’ into searches and found a golf course or two. I had a good time smacking some balls around and at L$25 per 30 min to drive, I thought it was a pretty good deal. The course is located at Hollywood 184,172,30 and they have a blog at SecondLife Golf. They also just announced some changes in their latest post Changes at Holly Kai « Golf in Second Life. [...]

This blog needs a bit of a pickmeup.
TOMORROW (no fooling) marks the start of a whole new chapter at Holly Kai. Seriously well thought-out competition. First ‘major’ tournament held on the new Ocean course. Two weekly mini-tournaments.
Go check out the new, updated clubhouse, and read up on the competition – it’s pretty cool.
Other cool changes that haven’t been documented:
– Fresh and accessible new player introduction
– Living (though not mobile) targets on the driving range, usually
– Awesome Ocean course redesign
– Holly Kai Estates… watch some of golf’s finest players dodge your wayward slice
– New clubhouse has actual things to do! Hang out with friends over a game of chess or parcheesi, or try your hand at roulette. Blow away some ducks. Drool over the new lockers.

Had to comment on Tang as an instructor. He was great. He had me playing with no problems within the first 10 minutes. Being an avid (read addicted) golfer in RL, this is GREAT! I can’t wait to come back and play a complete round, and join in on some of the tournies! I can see Holly Kai as my new home!
Great job Mark, and thanks again for a great time.
